x is between the square roots of 80 and 900 inclusive

If we take the lowest extreme which is 80 we do have 2 digits that require 3 bits of memory.

if we take the upper limit which is 900 we do have 3 digits which require 4 bits of memory

In the first case 2*4=8

In the second case 3*4=12

Thus, the number of bits required would be either 8 or 12.

The correct answers are options B and D.
