we can see 2 trapezoids in the given figure, trapezoid 1 is formed by connecting (-2a,0) ,(2a,0) , (a,a) and (-a,a), trapezoid is formed by connecting (-2a,0) ,(2a,0) , (a,-a) and (-a,-a)
these 2 trapezoids have same sides, therefore we can calculate the total area by doubling the area of one trapezoid
area of a trapezoid is given as 0.5* (A+B) * H
where A = 2a , B = 4a and H = a
plug in the values we get area of one trapezoid as 3a^2
doubling it will result in 6a^2
so Option C is the right answer
