Thank you. Fixed.

However, the book has several mistakes. The OAs table reported B, D, and I as answers.

The explanation and the sense of the sentence tells us that the (i) Blank is C

When a terrier comes into the room, you instinctively draw away (i) _______ you want to be jumped at and greeted (ii) _______. But you make no such movement to protect yourself from a St. Bernard because you read, on sight, (iii) _______ the natures of these two from their external appearance.

For blank (iii), since the natures of the two types of person are different, the correct choice is "disparate", meaning different, diverse, or dissimilar.

For blank (i), the words "instinctively draw away" before the blank and "you want to be jumped at" immediately after the blank suggest a contrasting word, "unless" perfectly fitting in sense. The word "because" does not fit because, nobody instinctively draws away because he/she wants to be jumped at (doesn't make sense). Similarly, "nevertheless" also doesn't fit.

For blank (ii), the word "effusively", meaning "unrestrained" fits in to complete the sense carried by "unless" in the blank (i)
