Quantity A: \(-\frac{3}{4} + \frac{2}{3}=\frac{-3}{4} + \frac{2}{3}\)
\(=\frac{-9}{12} + \frac{8}{12}\)
\(=\frac{(-9) + 8}{12}\)
\(=\frac{-1}{12}\)
Quantity B: \(- \frac{3}{4} \times \frac{2}{3}= \frac{-3}{4} \times \frac{2}{3}\)
\(=\frac{-6}{12}\)
Since \(\frac{-6}{12}<\frac{-1}{12}\), the answer is A

Another way of doing this is to convert them to percentages.
Quantity A
\(\frac{-3}{4} + \frac{2}{3}\)
-75% + 66% (approx) (exact value = 66.6666%)
-9% (approx) (exact value = 8.33333%)
Quantity B
\(\frac{-3}{4} \times \frac{2}{3}\)
-75% x 2/3
Since 75% consists of three 25%s, 2/3 of 75% would be 50%
-75% x 2/3 = -50%
Quantity A = -9%
Quantity B = -50%
Quantity A is greatest.
