You can also approximate if you know sqrt(2) = 1.4. You can quickly find sqrt(8) in the calculator [or deduce it, since sqrt(2) = 2*sqrt(2)]. Then the math from there is quick and easy.

I did both methods, and for me the approximation method was faster. There were also fewer terms for me to keep track of, so I was less likely to make a careless error.
