Hey,

When we consider option \(E\), \(x\) can be \(-1\) & \(1\) both so we can't say for sure.

Hence \(E\) can't be the answer.

I solved for x and got 1 and plugged in the values

I got the answer B, C, and E.

But the answer key mentions only B and C

Why can't E be the answer?

Only option B and C fulfill x = 1 , hence correct ans

\(x^2-2x+1=0\)

This is equal to

\((x-1)^2=0\)

This is equal to

\(x-1=0\)

This is equal to

x=1

all the answer choices that have one solution are equal to the question given in the stem

B is \((x-1)^3=0\). Taking cube root we do have x-1=0 so x=1

C is x+1=2 therefore we do have x=1

B and C are the only answer choices
