To answer CR questions accurately on a consistent basis, guesswork and fuzzy reasoning won’t cut it. Every decision we make must be grounded in clear, defensible logic.

Consider a CR question in which the conclusion claims that a particular plan will be successful, and our task is to strengthen that conclusion. A vague approach might lead us to pick an option that sounds favorable on the surface—perhaps noting that the mayor approves of the plan or that it won’t harm the environment. But do statements like these actually prove the plan will succeed? Possibly—but possibly not. And that uncertainty is the problem. When our justification for choosing an answer is unclear, we can’t truly know whether our reasoning is sound.

Using this kind of imprecise method results in inconsistent performance. Some questions may turn out right by chance, creating a false sense of confidence, while others will be wrong with no clear explanation as to why.

In contrast, when we rely on precise logical reasoning, every elimination and selection is intentional and explainable. We understand exactly why an option fails or succeeds in supporting the conclusion. That clarity is what leads to consistent accuracy in CR questions—and that’s why strong, logical reasoning should guide every step of the process.
