So, we can write x = (40/100)(y) = 0.4y
Now replace x with 0.4y in Quantity B to get:
QUANTITY A: y

Simplify:

At this point, you may already see that quantity B is greater.
Nevertheless, we can add the next step to be 100% certain.
Since we're told y is POSITIVE, we can safely divide both quantities by y to get:
