Solution:
Although we have 3 variables, the Answer could still be found. So try to find the answer, rather than choosing option E directly without solving.
x=1-2y
5x+10y+z=5
Substituting x=1-2y in the other equation
5(1-2y)+10y-z=5
5-10y+10y-z=5
z=5-5
z=0
IMO B

Add 2y to both sides to get: x + 2y = 1
Given: 5x + 10y + z = 5
Notice that we have x + 2y "hiding" in this expression.
Rewrite the first two terms as follows: 5(x + 2y) + z = 5
Replace x + 2y with 1 to get: 5(1) + z = 5
Simplify: 5 + z = 5
Solve: z = 0
