C1 = 1.4K1
Today, Carl gave 20 percent of his CDs to Karen.
Let's let C2 = the # of CDs Carl has today and K2 = the # of CDs Karen has today.
C2 = 1.4K1(0.8) and K2 = K1 + 0.2C1 = K1 + 0.2(1.4K1)
Simplifying, you get:
C2 = 1.12K1 and K2 = K1 + 0.28K1 = 1.28K1
1.12K1 < 1.28K1
C2 < K2
Quantity A < Quantity B
Quantity B is bigger
