Take a Chance! As we progress toward the graduate application season, our ongoing series ‘Getting Into Graduate School’ will continue providing you insights, tips, and tricks for admission into the school of your dreams. But sometimes it’s not about the minutiae. Sometimes, it’s about getting out of your own way and letting yourself dream. In this video, I return to my old stomping ground at Yale University and share some thoughts on graduate school nearly 20 years after I first enrolled. The biggest takeaway is that you shouldn’t let yourself be defeated before you even try. We sometimes build these schools up in our minds so much that we can't believe that *we* could possible deserve admission. We seek out reasons to think we're not good enough. I'm urging you take a more optimistic approach, and dare to believe. Yes, you might end up failing to achieve your goal, but if you don't try you will CERTAINLY end up failing to achieve your goal.
