Hi,
There are two things to note for this question:
a. Just because "B" looks bigger than "A" visually it does not mean B is greater than A.(This is a classic ETS trick)
b. Length is always positive
Thus, a can be -1, -2, -3, -4 or any of the fraction and similarly for b. And 4-a will be equal to b because a+b=4 i.e. 4-a=b
Hope this helps!

Just from figure
4 = a + b
Therefore 4-a = b. Answer is C
Since this 'a' and 'b' are distances and not co-ordinates, disregard negative sign.
