We can solve this by applying the general probability formula:
P(event A occurs) = (# of outcomes where event A occurs)/(total # of outcomes)
So, P(marked card) = (# of outcomes in which we get a marked card)/(total # of outcomes)
There are 12 marked cards. So, there are 12 possible outcomes in which we get a marked card
There are 30 cards altogether (12 marked + 18 unmarked = 30 in total). So, there are 30 possible outcomes.
So, P(marked card) = 12/30
= 2/5
Answer: A
