Building concepts

1) quant

The only book/s you do need is/are GCclub book which is more than enough. In this regard, I would address the concepts that are tested more during the exam, such as: number theory or geometry. For instance, probability is not that much tested MAYBE you will meet ONE question in both batteries if you are lucky (or unlucky, which depends on the point of view)

OR

The MGRE books, both for quant and verbal. Here my review https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/gre-math- ... tml#p26176
The books you mentioned are only for an average score.

2) Verbal

MGRE (see above my link)
As for a course I would suggest greelightestprep or my guru. They really do an amazing job and bespoke the preparation on the student in every detail. Even though Maggosh is well regarded and Lele does an outstanding job to teach the GRE concepts, I do think self-study and discipline and a good error log can help you to hit your target score.

Polish concepts

Official Guide only until the end. No compromise. NO MATERIAL is at their level Hands down.

Moreover, you do have million of official questions why you should bother with material from NON-official sources, though are good. Is not the same thing

Here you do have all the questions released by ETS in 15 years https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/the-offic ... tml#p14533

Karthik: Should I buy the latest editions for all the above books?

NO

Karthik: What about the study material for the "Analysis of an issue" and "Analysis of an argument"

This guide is the only thing you do need to follow to achieve 6.0 writing your AWA https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/gpc-guide ... 13231.html

Hope this helps.

Excellent reviews. I'm relying on Manhattan 5 lbs book(great for quant, not so for verbal), Official ETS(great for sample practice questions though not enough of them) and GRE Verbal Grail(great for RC). Haven't prepared much for quant as i feel comfortable tackling gre quant problems. Will update here if I come across new books that are helpful

Hi there! I'm new to this whole chatroom ordeal. I hope that I am able to get some quality information from my fellow GRE pep students. I recently took the practice test offered by The Princeton Review. Needless to say, I did not scored well. I received a 139 on the verbal section and a 130 on the Quant section. I am looking for a prep book that will best serve me in scoring well on this exam.

I'm looking into getting The Official Guide to the GRE by ETS and its supplemental materials. I'm also looking into the 5-1b GRE Questions Prep Book by Manhattan Prep. I heard that Kaplan's 2016 Premier edition is pretty good-However, there are mixed reviews as to what it offers. Some say that it lacks quality questions and strategies for the Quant section while others believe that it's the best supplement to the actual ETS guide. Also, I read that The Princeton Review, Cracking the GRE 2016 is best for those who are beginning their preparation.

I would love some insight on this before I make this important investment.

Thanks

Hi there. Question, I noticed you're linking Kaplan to a "GMAT" book. is that right? What sections of the book shall we focus on? Thanks.

I think that was a glitch. It should be Kaplan GRE.

I recently took the test and can honestly say that you will be extremely well prepared using simply the Manhattan Prep Strategy Guide Set and the official ETS materials (available as a bundle for a reasonable price). There are more books/guides out there but you don't need anything else IMHO. Good luck.

Hi,

this is not a simple question as it seems.

For me is a waste of time. I rely always on the meaning of the sentence. Moreover, I have on my own a good knowledge.

If you wanna a suggestion, however, I would say Barron 300 words.

Again, for me is a waste of time. It depends.

For others is crucial.

Hi Carcass,

Should I
1. buy the MGRE set of 8 strategy guides or the Manhattan Math and verbal strategies (2 books) or
2. buy all the above mentioned in point 1.

Please clarify.

Warm regards,
Karthik

Hi Guys,

I am not sure whether i can post my question in this thread.
I am new to GRE prep. I took an ETS Power prep practise test yesterday. I got 157 in Math and 142 in verbal. My desired score is Math - above 165 & verbal - above 150. Can you guys suggest some study tips and books which i need to follow for achieving my target score considering the fact that there are 45 days more for my D-day.

Thanks!
Girish.
