People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers.
Guys can you please provide feedback for my essay:
Human beings are innate problem solvers and being the most intelligent species, the process to decide on the course of action for a problem involves logic and emotion working in tandem. The statement that poor decision makers justify their emotional decisions with logic has to be evaluated primarily because a decision can be ‘poor’ or correct based a person’s perspective. At the same time we should also consider decisions based on logic tend to be more reliable than the latter.
To begin with it cannot be denied that the two world wars were galvanised be people who justified their decision to go into war based on emotional ecperiences. This led to the rise of Hitler and Mussolini wrecking havoc in the world. It is clear that reasoning was obscured in the general public which propelled the countries to indulge in war. Had these decisions been reasoned with logic, the world would not have faced the truculence of the two world wars.
Decisions based on emotion can have catastrophic effects not only in politics but also in business. Succesfully run business also base their decisions based on the financial policies molded on market data. For instance, if an organization decides to allocate their resources based on ‘hunches’ rather than sound reasoning won’t be in business for long. Thus its imperative to say that most of our everyday decisions should be based on logic and reasoning. However, as human beings emotion plays a major role in life. So, we need to take a look at both the aspects of the human mind before we make any claim.
Emotion plays crucial role in our life especially when its concerned with our near and dear ones. A parent may reject better paying job offer to spend more time with his or her child eventhough logically speaking a better job can lead to better welfare for the child. This is one such scenario where we have an ambiguity in deciding the ‘correctness’ of a decision. Well it can be said that the outcome of the decisions will particularly the parent and the child and thus it upto the parent to decide if the decision was right or wrong. A person may justify these emotional decisions with logic for the sake of correctness and therefore we it cannot be completely agreed that such a person is a poor decision maker.
To conclude, decisions that are made on reasoning and logic will always have a high a probability of success. However, a person who may take some some of his or her decisions solely on an emotional basis may not be a bad decisons unless its not favourable. People may justify their emotional decisions by logic but they may necessarily be not a poor decision maker.
