For the first time in the 80+ years history of ETS and #GRE, more Indians have taken the GRE test compared to Americans.
There may be many reasons for this but the following are some I can think of.
1) Business schools are more friendly in accepting the GRE as a substitute for the #GMAT compared to a few years ago. A lot of schools have started accepting GRE or granted test waivers for their admissions during COVID lockdowns. This may have changed how schools perceive the GRE and made it easier for the GRE to gain ground.
2) Those who didn't have a lot of success with the GMAT even after multiple attempts started taking the GRE. There are some good debriefs on GMATClub how a few successfully switched to GRE from GMAT.
