Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
I must disagree with the above statement, respectively so, due to the sole reason of trial and error. For example, history courses are taught and have been in the educational system for years and more to come. Why? Because what history teaches us is that history repeats itself and therefore we must learn from our past mistakes or achievements to either improve on them or eliminate where there is room for growth. Stating that having a past notion "cannot help people to make impotant decisions today" is a fallacy. Knowing about the past can in fact shape us while also position the individual in making a more confident and precise decision versus not having prior knowledge of where they stand. Secondly, I disagree with the original statement because without a past knowledge how can we as people create better ideas than those that we have already established? If we would have stopped at the printing press and not gathered past data we would still be using ink and paper not having the luxury of using a computer or type writer to expand on distribution. There is always room for improvement and there is no succes without falures, thus fortifying even more so the decisions that we can make today due to past knowledge. Lastly, in the way that this statement can shape ones postion is that the process of elimination entails one to make a decision in to what works and what does not. For example, preparing for a generalized exam that takes rigirous hours of studying and focus in order to achieve the desired score can be done so in one shot. However, for others it may take one time, maybe even three times in order to reach that goal. Without any prior knowledge of the past, or at least acknowledging the mistakes of the past one cannot make a better decision and improve on those mistakes. In conclusion, knowing about the past can in fact, as history has shown us, aid humans in making important everyday decisions such as getting up in the morning based on a daily routine that is desgined for success due to past experiences.
