Because the dancers are going to observe the “real masters of their art,” they themselves are not masters. “Fledgling” and “novice” both mean inexperienced. “Seasoned” and “expert” form a pair, in agreement with “real masters” but opposite the blank in meaning. “Torpid,” which means sluggish, might describe novice dancers, but can’t be correct because it doesn’t have a match. Similarly “lithe,” which means supple and graceful, is a great word for describing dancers, but lacks a match
