Percentile is the relative standing in %..
So here it means 50% of the elements were below 48.5 and 50% above it and 60% were below 56 and 40% above it..
These values do not tell us that at what number does the values start and we cannot say any relationship between the percentile and the number.
Example..
It is possible that the scores started from 45 itself, so the 50% of people scored between 45 and 48.5.
So so 40th percentile will be greater than 40.5
It is also possible that the first 45% scored less than 10 and 45 to 50% scored from 10 to 48.5
Here 40th percentile will be less than 40.5
So no definite information
