Reservoir A contains 450 million gallons of water more than does Reservoir B. If 100 million gallons of water were to be drained from Reservoir A into Reservoir B, then Reservoir A would contain twice as much water as would Reservoir B. How many million gallons of water does Reservoir A currently contain?
A. 500
B. 600
C. 700
D. 800
E. 900
Kudos for the right answer and explanation[/m]
Here,
Let the qty of water in reservoir B = \(X\)
Then qty of water in reservoir A =\( X + 450\)
As per ques,
\((X + 450) - 100 = 2(X + 100)\)
or \(X = 150\)
Now in water in reservoir A = \(X + 450 = 150 + 450 = 600\)
**** Moreover, this ques can be back solved, Start from option C and move up or down as per the result
