Question part of the project GRE Quantitative Reasoning Daily Challenge - (2021) EDITIONGRE - Math BookLet S = Susan's PRESENT age
So, S + 10 = Jane's PRESENT age
So....
S +5 = Susan's age IN 5 YEARS
S + 10 + 5 = Jane's age age IN 5 YEARS
In five years, Jane will be twice as old as SusanWe can write: S + 10 + 5 = 2(S +5)
Expand and simplify: S + 15 = 2S + 10
Solve: S = 5
So, Susan's PRESENT age is 5
So, in 3 years, Susan will be 8 years old.
