This problem can be solved as a Weighted Average problem. The overall average weight will be between 130 and 170 pounds, but closer to 170 pounds because there are more men than women in the room. You can use the limiting percentage of 60 to establish the lower bound on the overall average weight: if the percentage of men is greater than 60, then the result will be higher than this lower bound. The "weights” to use in the Weighted Average formula are 60%, for the men and 40%, for women. The lower bound on the average weight is thus: 154 pounds
This value is not possible, because the percentage of men is greater than 60; however, all the values greater than 154 are possible.
