The circular pool in the figure above has a tile border 3 feet wide (the white area surrounding the pool) and the area, in square feet, of the pool and tile included is \(225 \pi\). What is the area, in square feet, of the pool that excludes the tile border?

Since the area of the full figure (pool + tiled ring surrounding it) is \(225 \pi\), then the radius of this figure is 15. This radius includes the 3 feet-width of the tile border.
The radius of the pool is the equal to 15-3 = 12.
The area of the pool is \(144 \pi\).
