Linda has 4 jackets, 3 pants and 2 pairs of shoes. She could choose 1 jacket, 1 pant and 1 pair of shoes every day. However, 1 jacket and 1 pant don`t match, so they cannot be selected together. In such circumstances, for how many days can she wear differently?

Number of ways in which 1 jacket, 1 pant and 1 pair of shoes can be selected = 4*3*2 = 24
Number of ways of selecting 1 jacket and 1 pant which don`t match = 1*1*2 = 2

Required number of ways = (Total number of ways) - (Number of ways in which jacket and pant dont match)
= 24 - 2 = 22

D is correct

I am confused in the highlighted line sir.

This is a case of selecting together 1 jacket and 1 pant which don`t match, and a pair of shoes.
Hence, 1*1*2 = 2 ways
Subtracting this case from the total number of cases = 24 - 2 =22

Shouldn't the answer be A, B, C, D ? because she can wear differently for 19, 20, 21, and 22 days. From the 23rd day onwards, she has to wear that forbidden pant-jacket combination. I think the wording of the question needs to be - what is the maximum possible number of days that she can wear differently , then answer D is correct.
