Re: What is the greatest positive integer that is a divisor [#permalink]

We need to find What is the greatest positive integer that is a divisor of 10, 25, and 45?

The greatest positive integer that is a divisor of 10, 25, and 45 = GCD(10, 25, 45)

Lets solve it using two methods

Method 1: Prime Factorization

10 = 2*5 = \(2^1 * 5^1\)
25 = 5*5 = \(5^2\)
45 = 5*9 = \(3^2 * 5^1\)

To find the GCF take all the common terms and take their lowest power in all of the above.

=> GCD(10, 25, 45) = \(5^1\) = 5

So, Answer will be D

Method 2: Common Division Method

5 | 10, 25, 45
-----------
__| 2, 5, 9

=> GCF = Product of Common factors = 5

So, Answer will be D
Hope it helps!
