GRE is a test of Stamina, endurance, grit, and determination. No faux pas in those 4 hrs. It's a culmination of a long prep with razor sharp execution. One can’t afford a single glitch as the exam GRE expects you to be near picture perfect. Cracking GRE with a 99 percentile is not impossible but requires a very strategically planned approach coupled with loads of simulation before going for the actual test.
On that note let me put forth one of the most essential components of GRE test prep – Practice tests. An examination with 5 sections, with 30 and 35 minutes for Verbal reasoning and Quant to knock off 20 questions in each section calls for special attention to real GRE practice tests. A student must, I SAY MUST, check the number of practice tests offered by the training institute (I am talking about timed practice tests NOT question banks). There are many question banks readily available just a few clicks away, they are either a pool of old retired questions or are absolutely off the target.
A practice test should have questions that replicate the latest, adhering to the pattern and timed accordingly. I firmly believe practice tests should have question sets on particular question types to enhance one's skill set to deliver peak performance. For example Tests on Sentence completion – 10 questions to be completed in 5 minutes, Text completion and Sentence completion – 10 questions in 7 minutes, Reading comprehension – 10 questions to be read and answered in 20 minutes max. This should be followed by Sectional tests on Quant and Verbal.
Do not jump to GRE Sectional tests before you have sorted out the individual question type. No matter how well crafted your prep level stands, the ultimate test is the one where you can cruise through with ease, navigating multiple question types with immense mental agility and nimbleness. Hence those Micro Tests, we at IVY GRE Verbal prep at ivyverbal dot com, placed immense emphasis on this part and added 100 plus micro, macro and full length tests, just to drive home this objective- 99 percentile is POSSIBLE.
