I had been studying for the GRE for 8.5 months and took two attempts that didn't go the best when I found Target Test Prep (I really wish I had come across it sooner!!). I only had 1.5 months left to prepare and take my final attempt but had quite a long way to get my quant score to where it needed to be in order to apply for a competitive b school. TTP hands down has the most comprehensive GRE quant platform I have come across (and I have tried several other popular resources which no one should waste their time or money with). What I loved about TTP is that you learn and practice problems simultaneously which really helps strengthen foundations while also allowing you to apply strategies.
TTP also has a comprehensive module on 'strategy' which in my opinon is one of the most helpful features of the platform because these are the tips and tricks you need in order to succeed. Not just that, but standardized tests are also a psychological game and you need to be prepared for that--TTP totally has you covered for this.
If you're someone who is struggling to get your quant score up, I honestly don't think you should look any further than TTP. Yes you 100% need to carve out enough time to study and go through all the material on TTP, but that's what you would be doing anyway so why not do it through a trusted and comprehensive platform?
I had already done some prep and taken a GRE test when I found TTP. I was unhappy with the score I had as they were considerably below my target for quant. I really liked to find the short plan option, since I was planning to retake the GRE as soon as possible. I also liked the detailed content sessions with their specific timed tests. I loved the error type log. This helped me a lot to locate and concentrate training on my weak points. But one thing that was key for me and which we don’t find in other test preps is the so many notes on test strategies unrelated to content. I already had a strong math background but I failed to see my scores reflect my knowledge and skills. I would make just too many silly mistakes that would either make me get wrong answers or take precious time redoing questions that I had initially got wrong. This extra time redoing even the easiest questions made me rush the rest of the test, leading me to more mistakes and to scores that were below my expectations. I was beginning to doubt myself, thinking maybe I had a wrong perception of my skills. It was just so comforting to see I was not alone in this and that TTP has thought about people like me, offering me the most valuable orientations to mitigate this kind of issue. I was then able to raise my scores from 160Q and 158V (Aug 18th) to 166Q and 161V (Sep 12th) - doing prep alongside a highly demanding job. I am proud of myself for not giving up and for believing I could do better, even being 42 years old. I am grateful for TTP to also believe in me and help me get where I wanted!
After sampling multiple other plans and programs from math revolution to manhattan prep I found TTP, and it is hands down the best quant preparation I could have hoped for. This journey would have been much longer and more difficult without them and their product. I wish my High school math teachers could have been as effective as the online program TTP has developed.
The self paced program is efficiently structured and by the time you finish the program quant questions on the GRE seem simple. It’s worth the price for the 6 month program, and don’t cut any corners when working through it. Highly recommend!
That being said it is still a lot of work to get the score you want.
I only needed a great quant score since my university of choice does not care about verbal scores. With this in mind TTP is the best choice you can make for haveing a great quant score.
1. The structure makes it very wasy to follow all topics.
They are divided in lessons and exercises to test your knowledge. The exercises again are divded in different difficulty levels, thus you can find out pretty fast which your weak points are.
2. TTP offers an amazing analytics tool. You can see how long you took on average to answer a question, which topics seem to be the most dificult for you and beased on this you can create your own question sets.
3. Since it is easy to create your own question sets it is important to hilight that in the TTP -Course you will certainly have enough different questions to test your knowledge and improve.
All in all I can only recommend the program since I have used it for GMAT and GRE and in both times I managed to get the score I wanted!
I had such a great experience using Sherpa when studying for the GRE. While I studied on my own prior to taking the course, I was score ~10 below my target in both Quant and Verbal. The course itself is thoughtfully structured and the learning materials (books, extra practice problems) are great and easy to use.
I took the prep course twice. The option to repeat the cost at no charge was incredible. When I did the course the first time, I did not understand how much I would need to dedicate to successfully improve my score, so it was a great primer to the process. Before COVID-19, I found the Sunday Office Hours really helpful and a good way to get questions answered and learn from other students as well.
Erin was a truly incredible instructor, where I primarily worked with him in 1-1 tutoring (all virtual because of COVID-19). He was great at providing test-taking strategies that were targeted at addressing my specific weaknesses. He was able to help me review exam reports to understand where to focus my limited time on improving my score.
I scored a 162V/159Q and was accepted into my dream MBA program and could not have done it without Sherpa or Erin!
I used SherpaPrep to help me prepare for my GRE exam. The course itself does a great job in providing you with GRE-specific test-taking tools/strategies and it also provides a breakdown of key concepts and tricks that help improve your ability to tackle the questions. Furthermore, the instructors also do a good job in helping you identify areas for improvement and they help provide feedback regarding study habits and the overall preparation schedule.
I was most focused on the quant portion of the exam. Prior to enrolling in the prep course, I had not studied at all but I had taken an old practice exam from the Princeton Review and scored a 154. After completing the course and working with Jay for a little while, I scored a 165 in Verbal/Quant with a 6 on the essay (my highest score).
Nasheed was a great instructor and gave a lot of good tips for taking the exam; she did very well to get us through the course content and provide additional support in exam preparation. I also had the opportunity to work with Jay after the course ended. He was extremely helpful and devoted a lot of time to supporting me and making sure I had the tools necessary to succeed. One of the key areas of support was Jay's ability to help identify barriers to my progress on the exam. Once I was able to work on those barriers (time management and careless errors), my score improved.
While I did take the exam a few times and ultimately purchased a few external resources just for practice/repetition (at the advice of the coaches), the support that the SherpaPrep instructors were able to provide was definitely worthwhile. It was a huge advantage to have such experienced coaches supporting you throughout the process and really investing their time in your success.
I would recommend SherpaPrep to anyone who is looking for more support in their preparation.
I decided to go with TTP because of the structure and concept overview that it provided. I liked that each chapter had practice problems and tricks to make the content more digestible. Studying for a test like the GRE can be super daunting, especially if you don't know where to start. Having the practice sections online, similar to the actual test format, prepared me for test conditions, while also making me rest assured knowing that I essentially had a solid curriculum to follow every day.
Being able to revisit old quizzes and incorrect practice problems really helped me understand what I needed to focus on. I used TTP for the month leading up to my test, and upon completing all of the chapters and quizzes, felt confident on test day. Definitely recommend!
My first and second exam, after finish the Magoosh program, was 154. Then, I tried with TTP, increasing my score first to 160 and then to 164.
The program is direct to the point, easy to learn, and with valuable information about the difficult questions. They teach you with few words, all the formulas, and with few examples of every level. Then, you have unlimited tests and exercises, cluster them by subject and grade. Also, they show you the data with an excellent analysis to guide your study plan.
By the way, I didn't have enough time to finish the program, imagine if I could finish it.
Honestly, it is the best option. I invested time looking for the best program; I correctly say that this is the best one!
With three weeks of dedicated review I saw a substantial improvement in my Quant score. I loved the layout of the test prep software because the active learning really forces you to interact with the material in order to learn the concepts. Other platforms use videos but with TTP you learn through reading the lessons and completing practice questions. Also TTP has AMAZING analytics, if you use it. Every time you get a practice question wrong you log what caused the error (e.g. careless math mistake, lack of knowledge, reading the question wrong). Overtime you see trends as to why you're answering questions incorrectly. This is powerful tool that gives you insight on what you can do to improve your score without waiting to error log a practice test. Another tip: follow the software, do not cherry pick modules. You get the most out of the software when you follow the course plan set out by the software.
Target Test Prep was such a great tool to achieve my desired grade! I had to juggle a full-time job and studying for the GRE, which wasn't easy, but TTP really helped me organize my study. I actually started off studying with textbooks only, but once I tried TTP I couldn't go back! The structure of the course is super well organized and there are plenty of exercises to go through. My favourite feature was Custom Tests, which allowed me to design my own blocks of just hard questions. With little more than 1 month with TTP I achieved my goals, so no regrets.
